FAQ

Which is the best airport for Dingle?

The closest airport to the Dingle Peninsula is Kerry Airport which is 57km from Dingle Town. However it operates limited flight routes because it is a regional airport.

If you are travelling direct to Dingle, from the US or Europe, the best airports are Cork (151km) and Shannon (172km). These are both around a two and a half hour drive to Dingle.

Dublin airport, although the biggest airport in Ireland, is approximately a four hour drive from Dingle (353km).

Will we need to hire a car?

We recommend hiring a car while you are here mainly because it is the easiest way to go out and explore the Dingle Peninsula. Yet you should be aware that having a car will also make your transfer from the airport more straightforward. There are limited bus connections from the nearest international airports.

If you are not a fan of driving, we suggest you arrive to Kerry airport, from which there are bus connections to Dingle via Tralee. We can also recommend some great tour companies to you that will allow you to see the surrounding area without driving.
